Day 7: Sunday, February 6, 2005
Our daily journal is after the pictures.
This is Theresa next to the beautiful exotic cut flowers in the reception room. Note also the fresco painting on the rear wall. l
Out on the rear steps, viewing a series of pools, statuary, and the Caribbean in the background.
After dinner Theresa climbing stairs, again! ugh.
At the evening show, Theresa and other audience members hamming it up. That's "Pancho", there. She talked to one lady up there from British Columbia.
OK, now we' re talkin' ! The star of the show mugging with Theresa.
Daily Journal
OK. Super Bowl Sunday, and Roger is wondering if TV here will carry it. We
have one really "American" channel, which seems to be a conglomerate of movies
and CBS news. About a dozen channels in total, but CNN, BBC, local stuff, etc.,
etc.
Today is HOT already in the early morning. But read on... it did not stay that
way.
After jogging and showering, we had a nice leisurely breakfast, then walked to
the Business Center to send our daily e-mail message report. Then walked over to
the other lobby and checked on changing money. We also bought a souvenir shirt
and photo album. Walked all the way back to our room: the better part of a
mile...well, maybe 3/4. Hot already, but big clouds
as seems to be the norm, in the northwest. Ran into some folks we had talked to
previously. Lots of new people have arrived. And bus loads have gone home, some
to the singing of chefs and other staff as they loaded. We think we saw
yesterday's bride in a white sparkly swimsuit cover. Went back to room to get
swimsuits. Going to stay super casual and have lunch in a pool sandwich bar.
Theresa has been using "too much" sunscreen so will try to go light today in
order to get a little pink today. No tan yet. But Roger has a red nose. We are
discussing (arguing) as to whether he needs sunscreen...
Got a tiny bit of noontime precipitation while in our swimsuits today; fairly
cool but we stuck it out for an hour and a half. Theresa dipped her toes into an
outdoor pool but it was too cold. Felt like a bit of sunburn but none developed.
Can't even see pink, even tho used only a tiny bit of sunscreen. Guess we still
got too much shade.
Afternoon: It is getting progressively cooler & very windy again. Outdoor pools
are getting fewer patrons. Went back to the indoor jacuzzi where we met a soldier
from Iraq whose home is Washington state. Married 6 years, has 4 kids! Guess he
wasn't gone all the time. Also met
folks from New Jersey, New Brighton, more from Maryland; and a young couple from
Long Island. She is a "matrimony attorney" and said it was nice to meet people
married 45 years. Also met folks from Montreal, British Columbia, Ohio and
Jackson, MS.
We are 3/4 packed. Tonight after dinner, there were Mexican dancers & "the best
Mariachi band in Mayan Riviera", where Theresa posed and danced on stage. Pretty
good, in view of all the knee pain this week from so much walking. That was at
7:30 PM, and now we are almost ready for bed. Huge day tomorrow. So far we have
no permission for late check out, but they have said that we can ask in the
morning.
We haven't heard who will be picking us up at the airport. So, when we get to
the Humphrey terminal, if no one there and our car isn't there, we'll call Dan.
If you want to get a message to us, leave a message on our cell phone:
612-718-5499. Recall, we're arriving on Champion Air, flight MG #425, at about
12:30 AM.
Thinking about you all, and more folks back home. Hoping all is well.
Home tomorrow (Monday night - late.)
Love,
Mom & Dad
