Day 6: Saturday, February 5, 2005
Our daily journal is after the pictures.
Here is Roger sending of the daily Email from the convention center. Soon it will be available in every room.
Roger watching kyakers in the lagoon.
Roger in his new silk shirt on the way to dinner.
Just look at this breath taking little atrium - these are everywhere. These are covered walkways to and from the guest rooms.
Another look from the main lobby area, to the outdoors. The ocean is just beyond.
Daily Journal
The week is too rapidly drawing to a close. Here it is already, Saturday.
Seems like we just got here.
Routine day start: Roger jogging, continental breakfast, swimming... Life's
tough. (heh... heh...)
Spent an hour in the indoor heated Jacuzzi. Visited with a young man from
Maryland: a mortgage officer. Then went to send daily e-mail. Had lunch at our
favorite thatched roofed buffet "outdoor" place. There was a wedding party at
the restaurant (common place here). I do not think the bridal couple knew what
they were putting all of their elders through. We saw about 6 couples in that
one party in their 80's in very fine dress up clothes - out of place, really for
this location - and they were hot in the noonday sun, having apparently walked
for a half hour from the "chapel" to the restaurant. No body was smiling in that
group. Much later we saw a bride (without an apparent groom!) being photographed
at every scenic place - yes every 30 steps or so - by two photographers and some
young people with cameras too. I hope that if those we saw earlier were their
elders, that they were being "fed and watered" while waiting in the restaurant.
We also visited with two other 80 year old very active ladies who just arrived
from Ohio, all excited about their adventure.
And then we had a short nap. (only one hour.)
Spent an hour on the beach... cloudy windy and cold very few people out! Reading
Grisham's novel, The Last Juror. Theresa got me started reading Grisham on our
very first cruise with A Time To Kill. And I haven't missed any of his novels
since. Easy reading... Fairly captivating.
Shower back at room was cold: We think everybody got off the beach and jacuzzied
(using up all the hot water).
Dressed for dinner in the Oriental Cuisine restaurant. Mexican waiters wearing
red Mao jackets. :)
Still very cool outside. Tired! Vacationing is hard work. Feels like we have
worked hard all week. So we will be heading home on Monday! :-) Did nothing...
just a lot of walking, tho. Roger spent the day taking photos of Theresa every
time she was windblown, but never when fresh and pretty. Ugh.
More tomorrow.
Love,
Mom & Dad
