Meyer Christmas/NewYears

This year our Christmas celebration is being split into 2 parts. On Christmas day, Kathy & her family were in Tucson for Christmas with the Hagen family. So our "boys" & families spent the day with Mom & Dad. Then on New Years Day, we  had everyone here to exchange gifts and have dinner together. These pictures are first experiments from yet again another digital camera - this one very small. We are still studying the manual!

Between Christmas & New Years, we got almost a foot of snow. Between the two holidays, are some pictures Theresa took during the snow.

Our Christmas tree. (Tried to show our tall ceiling, which we always forget to photograph.)

Christmas eve, we attended St. Philip's, where they installed a beautiful new pipe organ last summer. Also, as always, they use the best talent in the area to provide a 20 piece orchestra complete with horns, woodwinds, a harp, string bass, etc.

Theresa is putting finishing touches on dinner for Christmas day. Roger's "second mother" Marlys, embroidered the tablecloth for us several years ago, so it has become tradition to us it every Christmas.

A few days later:

On our street, at noon, after 16 hours of big, sticky, wet snowflakes, totaling 7 inches, with more still coming. That is our house on the right of the picture. We did not make a snow man, but many families did.

Less than a block away, the peak on the house in the distance which is almost even with the top of the street light is our house. The trees in the foreground here are in the distance in the previous photo.

Back at our house I tried to capture a picture of the Christmas tree in the front window, but it was too light outdoors. (If you look very closely, it is there! And, see the mailbox in the lower right corner with the 7 inches of snow.

Across the street we can see the whole house. The big clumps of snow are still coming down.

Back inside, looking out that front window, with a bit of the Christmas tree in the foreground. Minnesota, in winter, does not disappoint us for photo opportunities this winter!  And we are both glad that we do not have to commute to work in  this!

Daughter Kathy made this impressive and heartfelt (on both sides!) decoupage piece which hangs on our family room wall.  She obtained signatures from all of our kids, grandkids, and spouses for a thank you for Disney; and then assembled this lovely work of art. Of course, you need to come to our house to really appreciate it.

Roger took this before folks arrived on New Year's Day.

Kathy, husband Cam, (with son Dave and also Glen (Daughter-in-law Dawn's brother) in background, Grandsons Garth; and Connor looking away from camera. Early dinner is being served from the family room buffet counter, so we can at long last get on with gift exchange.  Dave "celebrated" the night before; thus, the big yawn:)

Oooh's and aaah's as we all look at Hannah's big photo collection of the past year which she compiled for Hannah. It had lots of kitty pictures and other fun stuff.

The mess accumulates as gift wrap and bows fly everywhere. Everybody was there of course, but a few are out of view.

From above, the clutter - and the fun - is really visible in our little living room.  :-) . Left to right: Roger, Garth, Dave, Dan, Dawn with her camera; then Connor sporting a gift wrap ribbon tied on his head; Hannah, Kathy, Kyla also with a bow, Cam.  Glen's head is barely visible to lower right.

Grandma goofing off with a gag gift for kids: spiny, rubbery, snappy, silly thing. Happy New Year!
