St. Thomas 50th Reunion

St. Thomas 40th Reunion

St. Thomas 50th Reunion

This year marks the 50th anniversary of my  graduating from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul. Below are pictures taken by my collegiate friend, Hank Brill. Thanks, Hank.

Our major celebration was at a Sunday brunch where several of us on the Reunion Committee spoke.

And here's a link of lots of pictures taken by the St. Thomas staff.

Homecoming parade.

Young people sure seem to have a lot of energy.

Since it was homecoming weekend, the football game filled Saturday afternoon.

New stadium turf since I kept score there.

We handily beat Hamline.

Our emcee for the brunch was Tom.

Dick gave the invocation.

Brunch was delicious.

Had nearly 40 people. 71 of 200 had already past.

Now we become part of the "Old Guard" and have reunions every year for all graduates of 50 years or more.

St. Thomas 40th Reunion

Roger's 40th reunion, on Saturday, October 13, 2001, from the University of St. Thomas was a most enjoyable event which we shared with Roger's (Sophomore year) roommate, Hank Brill, and his wife, Paula from Lexington, Illinois.

This is Roger in front of Dowling Hall, his dorm during his Junior year.  Back then the entire campus was exclusively men. Now of course it is co-ed, and this dorm houses only women! How things change, and often for the better.

Dr. Jim Shannon, a very special man, who was during Roger's time, the President of the college,  agreed to pose with Roger after he personally signed our copy of his book, "Reluctant Disenter"! We found him to be a very gracious person, and a very good public speaker on two occasions (one time was at the reunion). As you can tell, he certainly is a handsome, healthy looking 81 years old!

In this shot we see the two men from the previous photo, plus Father Lavin, who not only concelebrated an intimate  Mass on the reunion day, but was invited to share in reunion festivities because he was a professor of religion back in the old days. He was a very gentle and congenial gentleman.

Here we have some of the guys who graduated together on June 2, 1961!

And again. The man in the blue shirt near the bottom is related to our great Aunt Leah!

Hank & Paula Brill, Roger & Theresa - friends all these years.
