Louisville Trip

In late June, we drove down to Louisville, Kentucky, to participate in the annual International Barbershop Singing convention. The chorus in which Roger sings scored 7th among 22 competing choruses. (View travel journal)

Here we are arriving. This is the Louisville skyline from the bridge as we approached the city by coming across the Ohio River. This entire metro, including 4 counties in Indiana is only 1 million people.

Here's Roger in our lovely room suite at the convention hotel. This lovely accommodation had been reserved for us and many in our chorus for a very good price.

Theresa's in front of a thoroughbred statue in the marketplace, the part of the convention where one can purchase all manner of music related goods.

Same restaurant with the Ohio River behind Roger.

The first evening we splurged and had dinner in a revolving restaurant on the 25th floor of the hotel.

The site of the singing events had lovely hanging flower baskets.

We are returning to our hotel in front of a horse statue. These life sized beauties were place all over the city; each with a different type of pop-art applied. This one was stained glass.

From our room - Ohio River.

From our hotel room: another view.

Roger's award. This was in recognition of at least 6,000 gratis professional programming hours donated in the last 5 years. (And he has done much more over 25 years.)

Chorus singing at District Pep Fest. This is an opportunity for all folks from our area to get together before contest.

Roger "primping" for chorus contest.

Chorus on stage. This is an arena holding 12,000 people, so shooting through the dark to a highly lit stage is really difficult to get a good shot.

Eating breakfast with Theresa's cousin, Joan & Larry Albrecht. We stopped and spent the night with them in Illinois on the way home.
