Theresa Moves to N. C. Little Memorial Hospice

Week 1: Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday Wednesday Obituary Gravesite (March 22 - 29)

Theresa left the University of Minnesota Hospital & returned to Walker Methodist Health Center on Tuesday, March 20th. After one day back, the W-M Social Director informed us that a bed had opened at an area hospice residence in Edina. Kathy & David visited it and we moved the next day. So, Theresa is now at N. C. Little Memorial Hospice, 7019 Lynmar Lane, Edina MN 55435. It is a small facility with just 8 beds. Hospices specialize in pain care and helping patients with comfort. We hope she'll be comfortable here.

Here she rests while Kathy puts away here clothes. (Thursday the 22nd)

On the second day, the temperature reached almost 70. So Roger & Theresa went for a short stroll on her patio. (Friday the 23rd)

Resting. Note, Theresa is reading the message I sent y'all about her move on our smartphone. Note also, the temperature didn't warrant her parka, but it's all she had since she entered the hospital in early January. I brought her a lighter jacket the next day. (Friday the 23rd)

Kathy's family visited on Saturday (the 24th). Here's the proud grandparents and the grandchildren: Roger, Theresa, Kyla, & Connor.

Grandma with the whole family: Connor, Cam, Grandma, Kathy, Kyla. (Saturday the 24th)

Theresa passed away on Thursday, March 29th at 12:36 PM very quietly in her sleep with Roger at her side. Below is her obituary.

Meyer, Theresa M. (Bleess) age 67, of Plymouth, passed away on March 29 after a 10-year battle with cancer. She died peacefully with her husband at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Maurine Bleess of Long Prairie, MN, her brother Nick Bleess and sister, Connie Becker.

Theresa, born on June 27, 1939, was the oldest of 20 children. She grew up on family farms in Good Thunder and Blue Earth, MN and graduated from Blue Earth High School in 1957. She went on to graduate from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester in the summer of 1960; and in September married Roger Meyer of Frost, MN. After graduation, she worked as an RN at the Charles T. Miller Hospital in St. Paul.

During their lives together, Roger & Theresa lived in St. Paul, MN; Sunnyvale, CA; Lansing, MI; Circle Pines, MN; Seattle, WA; Torrance, CA; Palos Verdes (Los Angeles), CA; Fridley, MN; San Diego, CA; Eden Prairie, MN; & Plymouth, MN.

Theresa temporarily gave up her career to raise her family; but when her children were in high school, she began working at Sharp Hospital in San Diego as an RN. After moving back to MN, Theresa began work in the medical marketing field. While this rewarding occupation was of great importance to her, nothing meant more in her life than the love for and from her family, both immediate & extended.

She was also an avid supporter of Roger’s hobby: barbershop singing. She enjoyed many travels with the chorus, the Great Northern Union, and was the official photographer for many years. She also traveled extensively with Roger when he judged at barbershop singing contests across North America.

Theresa is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, Roger; her children: Dan (Dawn Holmberg) Meyer, Kathy (Cameron) Hagen and David Meyer; grandchildren: Garth, Hannah, Connor, and Kyla; siblings: Charlotte (Frank), Chuck (Karen), Mike (Juanita), Pat (Shirley), Ron (Allette), Rich (Karen), Rita, Gina (Gene), Mark (Rona), Joe (Linda), Jerry (Sandy), Frani (Dan), Pete (Linda), Lindsey (Jodie), Rhonda (Roland), Ginger (Stan), & Brian (Dawn); numerous nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles and countless friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on April 3 at 11:00 AM  at The Church of the Holy Name of Jesus, 155 County Road 24, Medina. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Gearty-Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 3700 Vicksburg Ln, Plymouth, and one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
