Day 1 - Sunday, February 1

We picked a really good day to leave on our cruise. Friday the temperature was -24 degrees Fahrenheit, Saturday night we got another 2 inches of snow - currently about 1 foot accumulation on the ground. And it was snowing quite hard as we drove to the airport.

We departed from the new Humphrey Terminal in Minneapolis. What a beautiful new terminal, flight was scheduled to leave at about 8. So, we got up at about 4, drove by David's, who took us to the airport, checked in and even got a seat forward, row 4, for handicapped Theresa (An airport wheelchair was provided and Roger rolled here right to the the door of the plane). Jim & Diane are in row 21. Una & John are on a Delta flight that goes through Atlanta (They made their reservations through a different travel agent).

We were a little over an hour late departing because we had to first get de-iced to remove the overnight snow accumulation on the plane and then get de-iced a second time with the chemical that prevents snow buildup between takeoff and the de-icing. The flight was smooth and they even served an "Egg McMuffin" style breakfast. We were able to see Atlanta from the air.

Shortly after departure from the pier, we called the receptionist and we were informed that Una and John did not make it on board; and that with the first day at sea and the second one with no airport, they could join us on Wednesday. Needless to say we were very sad. Then magically during dinner they showed up. So that was good.

After a tiring day and a quick after dinner variety show we turned in early. Or Theresa was shot and could not wait while Roger went running.

More tomorrow.

This is at the Minneapolis airport; de-icing planes

This is coming into Miami airport looking at our ship, Voyager of Sea, in port.

Here's Jim & Diane at dinner.
