Christmas Letter - 2003
First and foremost we love to hear all about your news, so please Email
or snail mail us. Now, let's see how we can sum up our year: long stories
short: Our oldest, Dan and Dawn have begun to switch gears after the death of
her mom, who lived with them a lot over the past 7 years. They also
continue to get in a few trips with their Scamp Camper; and also their big
thing right now is the chairmanship of an International train convention
for next summer in Minneapolis. They are the welcome aunt and uncle at our
house for get-togethers. Kathy's kids are busy with grade 1 and grade 4 and Kathy is quite
immersed in a myriad of volunteer activities at their school. On a recent
grandparent visit there, we were told "Kathy lives here". So we
are also proud of that. Cam is now an official programmer at Best Buy
Headquarters. Good man. Their kids and David's kids gather for
"cousin fun" often. We are finding ways to appreciate good memories of the past 13 years
and how to go foreword without one of our daughters-in-laws, Sarah. She
and David have decided to divorce, and so we move on. Our hope is for a
happy life for all; and continued good relations with Sarah and her
family. Gladly we still see the grandkids a lot. Dave is stepping up to
the plate as a Super Dad (as he always has been); and we are proud of him. Our trips this year were very fun: Nebraska, Iowa, Mackinac Island,
Montreal, Quebec City and Nova Scotia. Check out those and other details
on our family web site. Most of our trips are related to barbershop
judging events. After official duties we take a few days to sightsee. We
are glad that our health is "adequate" so we can take part in
many peak experiences together. Wellness is a precious commodity and we
hope to continue into the future. Later on when life is done, then the
best we can probably do is leave a legac Several weddings this year, as always, have afforded us fun times to celebrate young love, and to reconnect with our wonderful extended family. Also, in the early spring of 2004, there will be a family celebration for the 30th Anniversary of "Pop" Louie Meyer and Marlys. What a lucky guy to have had 2 great ladies! Pop and Marlys love to tell how they have 11 children in the blended family. ALSO regarding extended family: several of Theresa's siblings have participated in a study at the University to help to determine the role of genetics in the development of mouth cancer. Thanks tons! And if you still want to do it I think they are taking volunteers. Call if you need help in setting it up. But please do it now. Please call us for details if you can join Jim, Diane & us on a Caribbean cruise beginning Feb. 1. We would love to have you enjoy the annual show of Great Northern Union Men's chorus on January 24 at Bethel College in Roseville. 1:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Just call us for tickets. Let us hear about you - Email or otherwise. And do call if you come our way. Good Holidays ; and make plans for a Happy 2004.
