Blue Earth in Early December
On a snowy Friday, we drove to Fairmont for a wonderful concert and then to Blue Earth to visit relatives for the weekend.
Pictured here in the living room of Theresa's Aunt Jeanie, Ms. La Vera Day of Washington, D.C. with Jean, as Ms. Day played Grandma's piano, and sang again for us. Her music was uplifting, joyful, and full of spirit. What a talented person! She performed a solo concert for the benefit of the local Habitat of Humanity. We were warmed up with a lovely punch bowl of hot spiced cider and other treats in the dining room, too!
Roger's father, Louis, and his dear wife of over 30 years, Marlys, in their home Saturday evening, after dinner out, and a tour of Christmas lights around town. "Pop" will be 90 years old on the 4th of July next year.
Here are some of the Christmas lights at the Fairgrounds. The entire site was in lights; and the whole town "goes all-out" to decorate.
Near the east end of the Fairgrounds, we see the back of the famous Jolly Green Giant, along with the last of the Fairgrounds lights, where again, cider was being served in the barn at the left.
A typical winter scene along highway 169 as we came home on Sunday. Trees were covered with beautiful snow and frost. - Minnesota winter wonderland!
