Garth @ MSSPA
Hopkins, Minnesota's Mainstreet has long been a place for young people. Even Dan used to drive up and down that street on Saturday nights when he as a teenager. Well, 2010 is no exception. On a cool Friday afternoon, Garth played in 2 bands as one of his final tests as a Senior at Mainstreet School for the Performing Arts. Dan, Dawn, Sarah, Linda & I were all there - Dave was home sick with what may be kidney stones - hope not.
The last 2 links are movie clips - so they're a bit larger and take longer to download. And you may have to open the downloaded file after you click the link. (And I apologize for the poor sound quality - my little camera does not do the band justice.)
Garth's first band played a song that he composed. The first link below is this band.
This is the second band in which he played. He is the only Mandolin player in the (Music) school.
The second link below is a clip of this second band he played in.
Here are Dan & I watching the performance.
Garth's relatives in attendance: Grandma Linda, Grandpa Roger, Uncle Dan, Mother Sarah, & of course, Photographer Aunt Dawn.
The star at work.
Performing in the second band. Cool. Eh?
He played well. Did a number of solos.
His mandolin playing has certainly improved a lot since I last heard him last summer.
