GNU 2009 Tour

On a bright Friday afternoon, over 90 people gathered to begin the 2009 Great Northern Union tour in order to sing 5 performances in 4 venues at a variety of locations in Minnesota over a 3 day weekend. Friday: Duluth, Saturday: Appleton (MN), Sunday: Willmar & Oakdale.

We gathered at Guardian Angels Catholic Church in Oakdale since we'll end up there Sunday evening.

Our buses.

We had a large group of nearly 80 singers and nearly 100 including all our guests.

Whle traveling long stretches, we work on learning a new song that we'll sing on our June show - Go The Distance.

In Duluth, we sang in Mitchell Hall on the campus of St. Scholastica - beautiful Administration building.

Each venue required set up risers, warming up, getting into tuxes, etc.

Many quartets aided our success. Here Engage sings.

A quartet of young men sang for our audience - Expedition.

The Land O' Lakes 2008 District Champion Quartet, Vocality, includes several chapter members.

During our travels, Holiday Inn was our home away from home. This is the motel in Willmar.

Appleton, Minnesota High School was another venue where we sang. Here's their school marker.

Nearby churches provided us meals and dressing rooms. This church was across the street from the Appleton venue.

On both Friday & Saturday evenings we had a chorus meeting to evaluate our performance and assess where we might improve.

Sunday morning, we sang 2 church services at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar.

Sunday brunch was provided by the church after which we sang them a song of thanks.
