Chicago 2007

Dan & Dawn are rail fans, meaning they know a lot about trains and train history. And they love traveling on trains. So in early August, Dan, Dawn, David, Garth, & Hannah, and yours truly, traveled by train to Chicago. We had a wonderful time. Spent all day Saturday at the Chicago Museum of Science & Industry. Below are a few pictures. But my camera broke. So I'll supplement these with some of Dawn's when I get them. (Kathy and her family were unable to join us due to a previous commitment.)

Dan & Dawn got us sleeping car accommodations on the way to Chicago. So here we all are in the First Class lounge waiting for our train.

Here's the Amtrak train as we walk out the door of the depot.

In Chicago, we stayed in Glenview. Here Garth is at the Glenview depot listening for our commuter train to arrive to take us downtown.

Hannah, Dave, Garth, Dan, Dawn, all waving, in Chicago's Union Station.

Dawn, Garth, David, Hannah, Dan ready to go outside in downtown Chicago.

Here we are entering the German U-505 Boat exhibit. Left to right: Roger, Hannah, David, Garth, Dawn, Dan. The exhibit was very interesting, involving a tour of a German U-Boat captured by the U.S. in 1944.

Here everyone is waiting inside the Glenview depot for the commuter to take us downtown where we'll catch our Amtrak train home.
